Units of Competency

 

Topics covered include:

  •  Assess risks and hazards to ascertain and prioritise needs for emergency services.
  •  Manage casualty and the nature of the casualty’s injury or condition
  •  Assist casualty with self-medication
  •  Monitor a casualty’s condition and respond effectively with first aid principles
  •  Correctly operate basic life support equipment
  •  Coordinate first aid activities until arrival of medical assistance
  •  Document the provision of resources
  •  Monitor the condition of casualty in accordance with first aid and workplace procedures
  •  Maintain confidentiality of records
  •  Evaluate an incident and develop an action plan.
  •  Participate in debriefing and evaluation in order to improve future operations
  •  Follow the prompts of a Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

 

Course Duration

Precise Training’s scheduled classes are 8 hours per day

There are no pre-requisites for entry into this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning is not offered as part of this course.

 

HLTAID003 Apply First Aid and HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid is required to be undertaken every three (3) years to remain current. A CPR Refresher Program is required to be undertaken every twelve (12) months

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Specific licencising/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities
