The 22542VIC Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training is Nationally Accredited under Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). Units of Competency

The Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training is comprised of the following 10 units:

  • ACMGAS206 Provide basic first aid for animals

  • ACMWHS201 Participate in workplace health and safety processes

  • VU22881 Apply principles of psychology to modify canine behaviour

  • VU22882 Investigate and assess canine behaviour

  • VU22883 Conduct dog obedience training

  • VU22884 Manage common canine behaviour problems

  • VU22885 Monitor canine health and welfare

  • VU22886 Teach dogs complex skills

Elective Units

Learners are required to undertake the two elective units below:
  • ACMCAS410 Conduct companion animal training classes

  • ACMSPE304 Provide basic care of domestic dogs

Specialist Electives

If you wish to complete any additional Specialised elective units, please note this will come at a cost of$240 per unit and will be commenced post the completion of the 22542VICCertificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training. Once you have been deemed competent in these units, Precise Training will issue you with a Statement of Attainment(SOA).

The core unit VU22886 Teach dogs complex skills must be successfully completed prior to completing specialised electives.

Fees and Charges

Learners are required to pay an application fee to secure enrolment. This will confirm the learner’s position on the course and ensure the availability of all required training materials. The remainder of the course fees is set out over a ten  month payment plan.

Learners have 12 months to complete their course without incurring additional fees.

Delivery Method

This course is delivered by blended learning. All assessment and resources are accessible via our E-Leaning Portal on Precise Training’s website. Learners are also required to undertake assessment for the practical components of this course.

Local Learners (Melbourne Only) will be required to attend monthly lectures and practical workshops. Additionally, there is a requirement to complete a compulsory 100 hours practical workplace experience at work placement/dog training centre located throughout Australia.

Distance Learners will need to attend two 8-day Block Training Sessions where they will focus on the development of practical handling/training skills. Block training can be completed at facilities in either Melbourne, Western Australia or the Sunshine Coast. Additionally, there is a requirement to complete a compulsory 100 hours practical workplace experience at work placement/dog training centre located throughout Australia. Students are responsible for organising their own transport, accommodation and meals during this time.

Assessments

Learners are assessed in accordance with the evidential requirements of each unit of competency. All assessments are competency based and will include written assessments, quizzes and practical demonstrations. Learners are required to be assessed as competent in all areas of the course, prior to receiving the 22542VIC Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Precise Training recognises relevant qualifications/ units of competency held by learners issued by other Registered Training Organisations. Precise Training also recognises that learners may be able to demonstrate a particular competency on the basis of prior learning, skills gained in the workforce or skills otherwise gained. RPL is available to all learners who believe they can demonstrate training and competency in units within the course. The learner will be required to complete a separate application and produce a complete portfolio of experience, knowledge and qualifications (whether formal or informal), as well as undertaking a formal interview with the assessor.  If you wish to make application for RPL, you will need to speak with the Trainer/Course Coordinator.
